LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

It’s time for the 25th Amendment

So, America, is the humiliation complete?

The president of the United States delivered a profanity-laden “Easter” message threatening to bomb another country, evil as it is, “back to the stone age” and has said Cuba may be next.

The image of the “toy soldiers” — Trump’s cabinet — all sitting in a line with their matching shoes, suits and ties just waiting to kiss the ring, should be humiliation enough.

Threatening to leave our NATO allies of 80 years while rewarding Russia with billions of dollars in oil revenue to carry on its illegal war with Ukraine, should show you where the president’s allegiance lies.

When is the 25th Amendment to the United States Constitution going to apply?

And if so, when is Trump’s cabinet going to have the fortitude to put it into action?

It is clearly time. The alternative line of succession is, however, dubious at best.

Mount Vernon

I participated in the recent No Kings 3 protest in Mount Vernon on March 28.

A Skagit Valley Herald reporter asked me my reason for participating. My unprepared response was short. “I’m here in support of democracy. I’m a patriot.”

Since the protest, I’ve felt obliged to add to my response.

First, in a recent sermon by the Rev. Franklin Graham, he mentioned that he loved Trump.

His sediment motivated me to add to the list of reasons I became involved in this protest.

I’m a 76-year-old senior, and I am sure the Rev.

Graham’s father, Billy, would have turned over in his grave. The least I could do was add a lengthier response.

Participating in No Kings was easy.

Trump’s treacherous regime is disgraceful and destructive to the USA and the rest of the world.

His disregard of the U.S. Constitution is frightful and un-American.

ICE and CBP enforcement of immigration and customs is lawless and murderous. The lack of due process is prevalent.

And, his incompetent cabinet choices along with his recent illegal war in Iran, environment rollbacks, infamous Epstein files cover-up, and relentless misogynistic credo all brings me into the streets.

This list is incomplete. His continuous lies, arrogance and corruption make him unfit for office. He must be stopped.
